Stair United Free Church originated as Stair Free Church at the Disruption of 1843 and acquired its own church building in the following year. It was at first associated with Tarbolton, but was disjoined in 1861. On reorganisation in 1929 it became a Church of Scotland charge, known as ?The Schaw Kirk?. As a United Free church it was in the presbytery of Ayr and synod of Dumfries, Galloway and Ayr. |
