Mauchline North Church, Ayrshire, originated with a group who seceded from the established church in Mauchline in 1793, joined with other seceders from Tarbolton and Old Cumnock, and petitioned for supply of sermon to the Associate (Burgher) Presbytery of Glasgow. A church was built and opened in 1796. It subsequently became a United Presbyterian and then a United Free congregation (as Mauchline Walker Memorial). In 1925 it united with Mauchline Abbey United Free as Mauchline United Free. At the union of 1929 it adhered to the Church of Scotland and the former Abbey church and Walker Memorial manse were sold. The remaining church and manse continued as Mauchline North, which in 1976 united with the former parish church (then Mauchline Old) as Mauchline. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery and synod of Ayr. |
