Fortrose Free Church began at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. A church building was erected in 1845 (replaced 1898). On transfer to the United Free Church it was claimed and occupied by the Free Church from 1905 to 1907, but then restored. It passed to the Church of Scotland, but united with the parish church in 1931 as Fortrose. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Chanonry and the synod of Moray and Ross. |
