Troon Portland Church, Ayrshire, originated at the Disruption, when a number of office-bearers and members of Troon congregation left to join the Free Church. The Portland Street building was erected in 1856. The congregation transferred to the United Free Church (as Troon Portland Street) at the union of 1900, and to the Church of Scotland (as Troon Portland) in 1929. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery and synod of Ayr. |
