Tain Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister led almost all of his congregation into the Free Church. A temporary wooden church was erected in the same year and later twice replaced. The congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Tain Queen Street, which united with Tain St Duthus' in 1942 as Tain. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Tain and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
