On 17 June 1962 Guthrie Memorial united with St James's as Hopetoun which then united with Greenside on 13 January 1974 under the name of Greenside.

Edinburgh, Guthrie Memorial Free Church was formed in 1880 and sanctioned in 1881, with a church in Easter Road. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, and united with St James' in 1962 as Edinburgh Hopetoun. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale.
