St Abb's Free Church began with a request for services from residents of Coldingham. A station was formed in 1889 at St Abb's, then a growing seaside resort. A church was built in 1892 and the charge sanctioned in 1895. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as St Abbs (or St Abb's), and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Duns and was in the synod of Merse and Teviotdale until the abolition of synods in 1993. It now forms part of Coldingam and St Abb's linked with Eyemouth. |
