Leith, Bonnington United Presbyterian Church began with an approach to Edinburgh Presbytery in 1871. A hall opened in 1875, a congregation was formed in 1876 and the first minister was inducted in 1877. The charge passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, and in 1968 united with Leith North as Leith North and Bonnington. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
