Gorebridge (Burgher) United Presbyterian Church originated with a petition from a large group in the village to the Burgher Presbytery of Edinburgh in 1810. The church building opened in 1812 and a minister was inducted in 1813. The congregation passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Gorebridge East, which united with Gorebridge St Paul's as Gorebridge United Free in 1921. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Dalkeith and the synod of Lothian. |
