Edinburgh, Chalmers' Memorial Free Church, or Grange, as it soon came to be known, began in 1863 with services in a hall. The charge was sanctioned and a minister inducted in 1865, and a church building in Grange Road opened in 1866. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Grange, and to the Church of Scotland, and united with Warrender and with West St Giles' as Edinburgh Marchmont St Giles in 1972. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
