Edinburgh: Gorgie Free Church originated as a mission which was sanctioned as a charge in 1891. A church hall was built in 1887 and a church on Slateford Road in 1896. Following the union in 1900 of the Free Church with the United Presbyterian Church the church became Gorgie United Free Church. In 1904 other church buildings and a manse were acquired. In 1929 following the union of the United Free Church with the Church of Scotland the church became North Merchiston Church of Scotland. The congregation was dissolved in 1986. |
