Auchterarder Associate (Burgher) congregation was formed in 1812 when the minister of the old congregation of Kinkell was deposed by the Antiburgher Synod. A church was erected in 1813. In 1816, following the minister's death, the congregation petitioned the Burgher Presbytery of Perth for sermon. The first minister William Pringle was ordained in 1817. In 1820 the Associate (Bugher) Synod and General Associate (Antiburgher) Synod united to form the United Secession Church and in 1847 the United Secession Church amalgamated with the Relief Church to form the United Presbyterian Church. The church became Auchterarder North United Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Perth. In 1888 a new church, formerly Evangelical Unionist Church, was purchased. Following the union in 1900 of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church, the congregation became Auchterarder Trinity United Free Church. In 1913 the church was united with Auchterarder South United Free Church to form Auchterarder West United Free Church. The South church continued to be used as the place of worship. In 1929 following the union of the United Free Church with the Church of Scotland, the charge became Auchterarder West Church of Scotland. In 1954 the church was united with Auchterarder St Andrew's to form Auchterarder St Andrew's and West. In 1983 Auchterarder Parish Church was formed by the union of Auchterarder St Andrew's and West and Auchterarder Barony Church. |
