Auchterarder Relief Church was established in 1777 when members of Blackford Church petitioned the Relief Presbytery of Glasgow for sermon. The church was probably opened in 1780 at which time the congregation became known as Auchterarder Relief Church. In 1847 the Relief Church amalgamated with the United Secession Church to form the United Presbyterian Church. The congregation became Auchterarder South United Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Perth. In 1900 following the union of the Free Church with the United Presbyterian Church the charge became Auchterarder South United Free Church. In 1913 the church was united with Auchterarder Trinity to form Auchterarder West United Free Church. The South church was retained as a place of worship. In 1929 the United Free Church joined the Church of Scotland and the charge became Auchterarder West Church of Scotland, Presbytery of Auchterarder. In 1954 the congregation was united with Auchterarder St Andrew's as Auchterarder St Andrew's and West. In 1983 Auchterarder Parish Church was formed by the union of Auchterarder St Andrew's and West and Auchterarder Barony Church. |
