Port Glasgow Associate (Burgher) congregation had been formed before 1751 and was disjoined from Cartsdyke in 1790. A church was erected in 1791. In 1820 the United Secession Church was formed by the amalgamation of the Associate (Burgher) Synod and the General Associate (Antiburgher) Synod. In 1847 the United Secession Church united with the Relief Church to form the United Presbyterian Church. In 1900 following the union of the United Presbyterian Church with the Free Church, the congregation became Port Glasgow Princes Street United Free Church, Presbytery of Greenock. A manse was purchased in 1926. Following the union of the United Free Church with the Church of Scotland in 1929 it became Port Glasgow Princes Street Church of Scotland. In 1972 the charge was united with Port Glasgow Clune Park Church and Port Glasgow Old Church under the name Port Glasgow St Andrew's Church of Scotland. In 1983 the charge was united with Port Glasgow West under the name Port Glasgow St Andrew's Church of Scotland. |
