Strathdon and Glenbuchat Free Church, Presbytery of Alford, was formed in 1850 by combining the preaching stations of Strathdon and Glenbuchat. A church and manse were erected in 1861. The charge was sanctioned in 1866. In 1890 a church was built at Strathdon. In 1900, following the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterian Church, the congregation became Strathdon and Glenbuchat United Free Church. In 1917 Strathdon and Glenbuchat United Free Church united with Towie and Cushnie United Free to form Towie, Strathdon and Glenbuchat Church. Following the union in 1929 of the United Free Church with the Church of Scotland, the charge became Towie East Church of Scotland. It was united with Towie West Church in 1930. Towie Church of Scotland, the combined congregation, continued to use the Towie West buildings. In 1956 Towie Church was united with Glenbuchat Church under the name of Glenbuchat-Towie Church of Scotland. |
