Bellie Free Church (Fochabers) was established at the Disruption in 1843. The minister of the parish and a large number of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. A wooden building was speedily erected to provide a place of worship and a church was built in 1844 and a manse in 1845. Alexander Pringle, a native of Fochabers, bequeathed £3000 for the erection of a church, which was duly opened in 1900. In 1900 the Free Church joined with the United Presbyterian Church to form the United Free Church. The charge became Fochabers Pringle Memorial Church of Scotland, Presbytery of Elgin. In 1947 it was united with Bellie Church of Scotland as Bellie Church. Both manses were sold a new one purchased. The Pringle Memorial Church was adapted as a church hall. In 1959 the congregation was linked with Speymouth Church. |
