Dunkeld Free Church was established at the Disruption in 1843, when the minister of the parish and one elder joined the Free Church. The Free congregation initially worshipped by the riverside at Birnam until a church was erected in 1843. A manse was built in 1850 and a new church in 1874. In 1900 following the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterian Church, the congregation became Dunkeld United Free Church. In 1929 the United Free Church joined the Church of Scotland and the church became Dunkeld East Church of Scotland. In 1931 the charge was united with Dunkeld and Dowally Church as Dunkeld and Dowally (united charge). In 1974 the church was united with Little Dunkeld Church under the name of Dunkeld. |
