Symington United Free Church, Ayrshire, originated at the Disruption when the minister and congregation left the established church. A church and schoolhouse had been built by February 1844. The congregation adhered to the United Free church at the union of 1900. After the union of 1929 it was briefly a Church of Scotland charge, as Symington South, but only a year later it united with the former established church (then Symington Old) as Symington. The South church was used for a time as a hall, but was demolished in 1954. |
