Alford Free Church in the Presbytery of Alford, was established at the Disruption in 1843 and sanctioned in 1866. The congregation were without a place of worship until 1867 when a church was erected. A manse was built in 1870. In 1885 a hall was built in Tullynessle. In 1900 the Free Church joined with the United Presbyterian Church to form the United Free Church. The congregation became Alford United Free Church in the Presbytery of Donside. In 1920 the mission hall at Tullynessle was closed and sold. In 1929 the United Free Church joined the Church of Scotland, the church became Alford East Church of Scotland, Presbytery of Alford. In 1952 Alford East was united with Alford West and both churches were continued to be used. In 1959 the united congregation of Alford Church was linked with Tullynessle and Forbes. In 1956 the Alford East church was renovated and in 1955 Alford West manse was sold. |
