Cray Free Church in the Presbytery of Meigle, was formed soon after the Disruption in 1843. The congregation initially worshipped in Cray House barn until a church was opened in 1844. A manse was erected in 1845. In 1864 the church was renovated and a bell tower built. In 1866 the manse was extended. In 1900 the Free Church joined with the United Presbyterian Church to form the United Free Church. Cray United Free Church was linked with Glenisla United Free church in 1927. In 1929 following the union of the United Free Church with the Church of Scotland, the united congregation became Cray and Glenisla North Church of Scotland. Both church buildings were retained. In 1941 the Cray congregation united with Glenshee Church of Scotland and the Glenisla North congregation with Glenisla. Glenshee and Cray Church was united with Persie and Netherton Church in 1953 to form Glenshee and Glenericht Church. |
