Roberton United Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Lanark, orginated as Roberton Relief Church, formed by the Relief Presbytery of Glasgow in 1799. In 1847 the United Presbyterian Church was formed by the union of the United Secession Church and the Relief Church. Roberton United Presbyterian Church became Roberton United Free Church in 1900 following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church. In 1918 the congregation was linked with Culter and Symington United Free Church in the Presbytery of Lanark. In 1929 the United Free Church joined the Church of Scotland and this congregation became Roberton West Church of Scotland. In 1938 the congregation was merged with Wiston and Roberton Church which retained the church and manse of Wiston church and the Roberton church were retained. In 1971 the Church was united with Crawfordjohn and Abington and with Lamington and Wandel under the name of Duneaton Church of Scotland. |
