Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church in 1900, Reay Free Church became Reay United Free Church in the Presbytery of Caithness. The congregation had been formed at the Disruption in 1843 and a church and manse erected in 1844. In 1929 the United Free Church joined with the Church of Scotland and this congregation became Shebster Church of Scotland. On 1 August 1933 Shebster was united with Shurrery to form Shebster-Shurrery and both churches and Shebster manse continued to be used. In 1955 Shebster-Shurrery Church was united with Reay Church under the name of Reay Church. In 1994 the charge was linked with Strathy and Halladale Church. |
