Blantyre: Livingstone Memorial United Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Hamilton originated as a mission at Stonefield in 1877. After 6 months the mission was placed under the supertindence of Cambuslang Kirk. A church was purchased and opened for worship in June 1878. In 1900 the United Presbyterian Church united with the Free Church and this congregation became Blantyre Livingston Memorial United Free Church. In 1929, following union with the Church of Scotland, the charge became Blantyre: Livingstone Memorial Church of Scotland, retaining the church buildings and manse and the minister Thomas Archibald Hugh (d 1945). |
