Creetown Free Church was a mission formed by the Free Presbytery of Wigtown. The congregation of Penninghame and Minnigaff or Creebridge was formed on 3 July 1843. A church was built in Creebridge in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright in 1844 and a manse in 1846. A mission was maintained at Creetown, which was active 1857-1865. In 1900 the Free Church joined with the United Presbyterian Church and the charge became Creetown United Free Church in the Presbytery of Wigtown and Stranraer. The minister from 1895 was Alexander Wilson Black (1863-1943). In 1929 upon reunion with the Church of Scotland, Creetown United Free Church became Creetown Trinity. In 1937 the church united with Kirkmabreck Church under the name Kirkmabreck Church. The Kirkmabreck church and mission hall were retained and Creetown Trinity church became a hall. In 1996 the charge was linked with Monigaff. |
