The first minister to be inducted into Glasgow, Anderston Relief congregation was Rev Joseph Neil in 1770. By the beginning of 1771 the elders were ordained and the congregation was constituted into a session. In 1847 the Relief Church and the Secession Church united and the charge became Glasgow, Anderston United Presbyterian Church. The congregation passed to the United Free Church as Anderston United Free Church and then to the Established Church as Anderston Old Church of Scotland in 1929. A union took place with the congregations of Anderston and St Peter's and St Marks-Lancefield in 1968, the united charge taking the name of Anderston Church of Scotland. A further union occurred on 19 April 1979 with Kelvingrove to form Anderston Kelvingrove Church of Scotland. |
