The church of the congregation was erected in the same year however this first building was later demolished in 1873 and a new church was built and opened in 1874. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland, Stonehouse Free Church was renamed Stonehouse Hamilton Memorial United Free Church and upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Church of Scotland, the congregation became Stonehouse Hamilton Memorial Church of Scotland. In 1946 a union was established with Stonehouse St Ninian's, under the name of Stonehouse St Ninian's, to form the session of Stonehouse St Ninian's Church of Scotland and after this local union the former Hamilton Memorial Church was demolished.
