The congregation of Saltcoats Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Ardrossan, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption when Dr Landsborough, minister of Stevenston parish church, and the majority of his congregation, adhered to the Free Church. The church of Saltcoats Free Church was erected and opened in the following year and later underwent renovations and was enlarged in 1869-1870. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland, Saltcoats Free Church became Saltcoats Landsborough United Free Church and upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Free Church of Scotland, Saltcoats Landsborough United Free became Saltcoats Landsborough Church of Scotland. In 1968 a union was established between the congregations of Saltcoats Lansborough and Saltcoats Trinity, under the name of Saltcoats Landsborough and Trinity and further union followed in 1993 with Saltcoats Erskine to form the united session of Saltcoats New Trinity. The congregation of Saltcoats New Trinity Church of Scotland sits under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Ardrossan. |
