The congregation of Logiealmond Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Perth, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption when the minister and almost the entire congregation of the quoad sacra church at Chapelhill adhered to the Free Church. The new charge continued to use their church with consent from the proprietor however the estate changed hands and in 1853 and the congregation was required to leave the church. A new church and manse were erected at the village of Harrietfield in 1854. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland in 1900, Logiealmond Free Church was renamed Logiealmond North United Free Church and in 1907 Logiealmond North United Free Church was joined with the congregation of Logiealmond South United Free, to form the session of Logiealmond United Free Church. After this local union the former South Church was removed in 1912 and the North church remained in use as the place of worship. Upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Free Church of Scotland, Logiealmond United Free Church became Logiealmond Heriotfield Church of Scotland and in 1934 the charge was joined with that of Logiealmond Chapelhill, under the name of Logiealmond Church of Scotland. Both churches remained in use for a time after 1934 however, owing to the poor condition of the building, the Chapelhill Church fell into disuse. In 1968 a link was established between Logiealmond and the congregation of Almondbank St Serf's but this link was later terminated in 1995 in favour of a union with the charge of Methven, under the name of Methven and Logiealmond. The united congregation of Methven and Logiealmond is under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Perth. |
