Gallowgate Church, Glasgow, began with the congregation of Camlachie parish, which came out at the Disruption and on being deprived of the church building in 1849, built a church of their own at the intersection of Gallowgate and David Street. This was known successively as Camlachie Free Church, Whitevale Free Church and Gallowgate United Free Church. It passed to the Church of Scotland on the union of 1929 and terminated in 1938 on uniting with St Thomas? as St Thomas? Gallowgate. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
