St Enoch?s Kelvingrove Church, Glasgow, began at the Disruption, when the minister and many of the congregation of St Enoch?s Church left to join the Free Church. After some years in temporary accommodation in Waterloo Street, the congregation erected a church at the junction of Dumbarton Road and Old Dumbarton Road (1873). They were known as Melville Church, then St Enoch?s Free (later United Free) Church. They terminated in 1935 on uniting with Kelvinhaugh as St Enoch?s Kelvinhaugh. The church building was destroyed by enemy action in 1941. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
