On the 25 October 1736 the Kirk Session of Kinclaven Parish Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Perth, unanimously agreed to accede to the Associate Presbytery. James Fisher, the present minister of the parish church, remained with the congregation of Kinclaven Associate (Antiburgher) for a time, however in 1741 he left and the charge was left vacant, supplied only occasionally with sermon until Alexander Blyth was ordained in 1747. The church of the congregation is thought to have been built in 1745. In 1847 Kinclaven (Antiburgher) Associate Session became part of the United Presbyterian Church. Following the union between the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland in 1900, Kinclaven United Presbyterian became Kinclaven United Free Church, and upon the 1929 union between the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church of Scotland, Kinclaven United Free Church was renamed Kinclaven Kirk o' The Muir Church of Scotland. In 1938 Kinclaven Kirk o' The Muir was joined with the congregation of Kinclaven Tayside Church of Scotland, under the name of Kinclaven Church of Scotland. After this local union the former United Free church was sold. A link was established in 1976 between Kinclaven and Bendochy however this arrangement was later terminated in 1988 and a further linkage followed in 1989 with Caputh and Clunie. The linked congregation sits under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
