The congregation of Coatbridge Drumpellier United Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Hamilton, existed prior to the 1900 union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland, as Coatbridge West Free Church. In 1900 part of the West Church adhered to the Free Church (continuing), and it was the portion of the congregation that joined in the union that became Drumpellier United Free Church. Initially services were conducted in the hall of Blairhill Church but a new church was opened in 1908. Upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Coatbridge Drumpellier United Free became Coatbridge Drumpellier Church of Scotland and in that same year the congregation was reduced in status and came under the control of missionaries. In 1941 Coatbridge Drumpellier Church of Scotland was dissolved. |
