Immediately after the Disruption of 1843, adherents of the Free Church resident within the parish of Croy worshipped in Cawdor. In 1851 however a site upon which to erect a Free Church was secured within Croy and a church was built in the following year. In 1854 the congregation of Croy Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Nairn, was sanctioned by the Assembly and in 1856 the first minister of the charge was ordained. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland, Croy Free Church became Croy United Free Church and upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Free Church of Scotland, Croy United Free was renamed Croy West Church of Scotland. In 1934 the charges of Croy West and Croy North were joined together under the name of Croy and Dalcross Church of Scotland. After this local union the former West church and manse were sold and a link was later established in 1967 with the congregation of Cawdor. The congregation of Croy and Dalcross Church of Scotland sits under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Inverness. |
