The congregation of Lethendy Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Dunkeld, was established in 1843 the year of the Disruption, when Andrew Kessen, minister of the Parish Church of Lethendy, and six elders, adhered to the Free Church. Church and manse were both erected in 1843-1844. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland in 1900, Lethendy Free Church became Lethendy United Free Church and upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Church of Scotland, Lethendy United Free was renamed Lethendy East Church of Scotland. The congregation of Lethendy East was united in the same year with Lethendy and Kinloch, under the name of Lethendy and Kinloch Church of Scotland. Further union followed in 1962 with the charge of Clunie to form Clunie, Lethendy and Kinloch and the united congregation was joined in 1983 with Caputh and Murthly, under the name of Caputh and Clunie. The congregation of Caputh and Clunie Church of Scotland is under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
