The congregation of Holytown Free Church, which sat within the Free Presbytery of Hamilton, was established in 1843, the year of the Disruption. The church was built in 1844 and later replaced in 1880, and the manse was erected in 1848. Following the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free church of Scotland in 1900, Holytown Free Church became Holytown United Free Church and upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Church of Scotland, Holytown United Free was renamed New Stevenston-Wrangholm Church of Scotland. This congregation is under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Hamilton. |
