Strathblane Church was dedicated to St Blaan. It belonged to the Hospital of Polmadie and in 1453 was annexed to the Collegiate Church of Dunbarton. Strathblane Free Church opened its doors in 1867. It transferred to the United Free Church and subsequently to the Church of Scotland, when it was known as Blanefield. The Blanefield congregation united with Strathblane in 1934 and both churches continued in use until 1962 when Blanefield was sold. Strathblane was in the Presbytery of Dumbarton for many years but then was transferred to Stirling. |
