The congregation of Logiepert Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Brechin, was established immediately after the Disruption in 1843. Worship was held for a short time in a barn and a wooden church was constructed at St Martin's Den, where the congregation remained until a permanent church was built in 1844. 1844 was also the year in which the charge was sanctioned. Following the 1900 union between the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church of Scotland, Logiepert Free Church became Logiepert United Free Church and upon the 1929 union between the United Free Church of Scotland and the Free Church of Scotland, the charge was renamed Logiepert St Martin's Church of Scotland. In 1943 Logiepert St Martin's was united with the congregation of Logiepert Old under the name of Logiepert Church of Scotland. After the local union the former St Martin's Church and manse were sold. In 1957 a link was established with the congregation of Strathcarro however the congregation of Logiepert Church of Scotland was later dissolved in 1982. |
