A church was built in the same year and the congregation received a minister in 1798. Balfron was part of the Presbytery of Dumbarton. The church became part of the United Presbyterian Church in 1847 on the union of the Relief Church with the United Secession Church. In 1880 Balfron was united with Holm of Balfron to become Balfron and Holm United Presbyterian Church. The Kirk Session functioned in a similar way to Sessions of the Church of Scotland. |
