Barony North Church, Glasgow, began as a Free Church mission in Townhead, and was sanctioned as Barony Free Church in 1867. The church, at the corner of Castle Street and Cathedral Street, was dedicated in the same year. It was destroyed by fire in October 1941 and the congregation moved to Cathedral Square, where it occupied a former United Presbyterian church (see Cathedral Square Church). The parish terminated on dissolution in 1979. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
