The first recorded annual meeting of the Central Committee of the United Free Church Girl's Auxiliary took place within the Edinburgh offices of the United Free Church of Scotland on the 26th May 1904. The society was run in association with the Women's Foreign Mission of the United Free Church and one of the main purposes of the organisation was to raise £120 annually, to provide the salary of a missionary, who would be their representative in the foreign field. The other aim of the Girl's Auxiliary was to unite girl's of the church together in order that, by means of prayer, thought and service, the may prepare themselves for further responsibility in the service of the church. In addition to the Central Committee there existed regional branches of the Girl's Auxiliary, including one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow. |
