The congregation of Perth Knox's Free Church originated from a mission which was established in Meal Vennel in 1855. The mission was supported by members of the various Free Churches within Perth and in 1856 a site was secured upon which a church was erected and opened in 1857. Additionally in 1857 the charge was sanctioned and the congregation became Perth Knox's Free Church. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Perth Knox's Free Church became Perth Knox's United Free Church, in 1907 however the church was allocated to the Free Church (continuing) by the Royal Commission. The majority of the congregation of Knox's remained with the United Free Church and in January 1908 joined with the congregation of Perth East United Free Church. |
