The Secession congregation of Kilmarnock Gallowsknowe, whose first church was erected in 1772, joined the Church of Scotland in 1839 and in 1843, at the time of the Disruption, the charge adhered to the Free Church and became Henderson Free Church. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Kilmarnock Henderson became Kilmarnock Henderson United Free Church and following the 1929 union between the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Kilmarnock Henderson United Free became Kilmarnock Henderson Church of Scotland. The congregation of Kilmarnock Henderson sits within the Presbytery of Irvine and Kilmarnock. |
