The first minister of Jedburgh Relief Church, Thomas Boston, was inducted on Friday 9th December 1757 in a new church in Jedburgh which had been specifically built for him. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Jedburgh High Street , United Presbyterian was renamed Jedburgh Boston United Free Church and in 1917 a union was established between Jedburgh Blackfriars United Free and Jedburgh Boston United Free. After the union the former Boston church was used as the place of worship, until 1930 when the congregation moved to the Blackfriars Church. The Boston church and hall were sold two years later. Following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, the united congregation was renamed Jedburgh Boston-Blackfriars, and a further union followed in 1956 with the charge of Jedburgh Abbey, under the name of Jedburgh Trinity. Jedburgh Trinity Church of Scotland sits under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Jedburgh. |
