Ayr presbytery was formed in 1883 by the synod of the church, which disjoined 14 churches from the presbytery of Kilmarnock: Girvan, Patna, Maybole, Ayr Darlington Place, Ayr Cathcart Street, Irvine Relief, Irvine Trinity, Prestwick, Troon, Tarbolton, Mauchline, Catrine, Cumnock and Muirkirk. The arrangement lasted only until 1890, when Ayr presbytery was reunited with Kilmarnock to form the presbytery of Kilmarnock and Ayr. |
