The congregation of Pathstruie Associate Session was believed to have been established as early as 1749, however the session is not mentioned in the records of the Presbytery of Perth and Dunfermline until 1757. In 1758 lease of an area of land was obtained, upon which a church to house the Antiburgher congregation was built, and consequently it is during this year that the true date of the formation of Pathstruie Associate Session is thought to have fallen. Laurence Reid, the first minister of the charge was ordained in 1764. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Pathstruie United Presbyterian became Pathstruie United Free Church and following the union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Pathstruie United Free became Pathstruie Church of Scotland. In 1931 the congregation was transferred by the General Assembly from the Presbytery of Dunfermline and Kinross to that of Perth and a number of years thereafter in 1957 Pathstruie Church of Scotland was united with the congregation of Forteviot, under the name of Forteviot and under the ministry of the Rev. A. Reid, minister of Forteviot. |
