The congregation of Erskine Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Greenock and later the United Free Presbytery of Paisley, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption when the minister, and a number of the parish church congregation of Erskine, adhered to the Free Church. A new church was erected to house the charge in 1844. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Erskine Free Church became Erskine United Free Church and following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Erskine United Free was renamed Bishopton Rossland. In 1971 Bishopton Rossland united with the congregation of Bishopton Old Erskine, under the name of Bishopton Erskine. |
