The congregation of Lockerbie Free Church, which sat within the Free Presbytery of Lockerbie and later the United Free Presbytery of Annandale, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption when the minister, and a significant proportion of the congregation of the parish church of Lockerbie, adhered to the Free Church. A church was erected to house the congregation in the same year and a hall was added at a later date. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Lockerbie Free Church was renamed Lockerbie United Free Church and following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Lockerbie St Cuthbert's United Free became Lockerbie St Cuthbert's Church of Scotland. In 1963 a link was established between Lockerbie St Cuthbert's and the congregation of Tundergarth, and in 1986 the charges of Lockerbie Dryfesdale and Trinity, and Lockerbie St Cuthbert's were united under the name of Lockerbie Dryfesdale. The link with Tundergarth was terminated on the same day. |
