In 1860 Free Church mission work was begun within Armadale, by the Bathgate Free Church, and in the following year the Assembly sanctioned the Armadale charge. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Armadale Free Church became Armadale United Free Church and the congregation was removed from the Presbytery of Linlithgow to that of Bathgate. Following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Armadale United Free was renamed Armadale East Church of Scotland and the congregation was dissolved a number of years thereafter in 1973. |
