The congregation of Enzie Free Church, which sat within the Free Presbytery of Fordyce and later the United Free Presbytery of Banff and Strathbogie, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption, when the residents within the area who adhered to the Free Church formed themselves into a congregation. Worship initially took place within a shed until a church to house the congregation was erected in 1844. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Enzie Free Church became Enzie United Free Church and following the 1929 union of the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, the charge was renamed Enzie North Church of Scotland. In 1930 Enzie North was joined with the congregation of Enzie South, under the name of Enzie Church of Scotland. After the union both churches remained in use for a time until 1946 when the former North Church was closed. |
