On the 6th August 1833 a group of 1st and 2nd year students belonging to the United Secession Secession Hall met to discuss the benefits of forming themselves into a society for prayers and religious discussion. It was duly agreed that the society be constituted and that meetings should held each week at the United Secession Hall in Wellington Street, Edinburgh. A similar society had been established in Glasgow in 1821. |
